Senior Project Reflection

Title: Blog 23:  Senior Project Reflection
Label: Presentation
Directions: Please answer the following questions, and submit them to the blog.
Due Date: The day after your block presentation by 8:00 A.M.

(1) Positive Statement
What are you most proud of in your block presentation and/or your senior project? Why?
What i am most proud of from my senior presentation was that i did 130 hours of mentorship, making my dance future better and it shaped me as a better dancer. As for my presentation i am proud to have use up all the time the block has given me and make people feel happy and see the enjoyment they had with my activity, which was teach choreography.

(2) Questions to Consider
a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your block presentation (self-assessment)?

AE       P          AP       CR       NC
I would give myself a P+ because of not only reaching the required time, but using up the whole block efficiently.

b.     What assessment would you give yourself on your overall senior project (self-assessment)?

AE       P          AP       CR       NC
I would give myself a solid P- for my overall senior project for completing everything as required and knowing my topic inside and out, but the minus because in the beginning i did not turn things in on time like my extra month blogs.

(3) What worked for you in your senior project?
How resourceful my mentors were and how surrounded i am with my topic outside of school.

(4) (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your senior project if you could go back in time?
Just turn in things on time, because i would finish things but forget to turn them in, like leaving things at home or being late on turnitin.com.

(5) Finding Value

How has the senior project been helpful to you in your future endeavors?   Be specific and use examples.
I am going to continue dancing when i am in college. That being said, the senior project is a great head start to prepare me to dance with the big teams and events. I am planning to join the Company called GRV when i am in Cal Poly, and later try to audition for the company called Cookies in San Diego if i transfer there after. Since these teams are very hard to join and it takes a lot of experience, the senior project showed me detailed facts on what to focus on when training for these teams in the future. Learning things like different forms of exercising and how to focus on facial expressions when dancing, has helped me be more aware of things when i am dancing, making me a better dancer overall.

Blog 16: Answer 2

1.  What is your EQ?
What is the most important factor in creating a successful hip-hop dance performance.

2.  What is your first answer? (In complete thesis statement format)
the most important factor in creating a hip-hop dance performance is the help of performing with facial expressions to the style in which is the choreography you are dancing to.

3.  What is your second answer? (In complete thesis statement format)
The second answer to my essential question is Practicing during hard conditions and environment.

4.  List three reasons your answer is true with a real-world application for each.
My answer is true because without practice you cannot give a 100% performance. An example of this is during competition we practice for at least 5 hours before performing so you remember everything and you keep what you learned crisp and ready for a 110% performance.
Another reason practice is essential is because that is how you will perfect the routine or set. Like the saying "practice makes perfect" my company practices 5 hours every Saturday to perfect the set as much as possible.
Also practicing is important because it keeps your mind focused on what you are doing. Example, if you forget to practice for a while, you'll start to lose what you learned and you make a lot more mistake for you don't have the focus anymore. So practicing can help with performance, perfection, and a focused mind.

5.  What printed source best supports your answer?
http://www.psychologicalscience.org/index.php/news/releases/going-through-the-motions-improves-dance-performance.html
This source talks about the ballet aspect but it talks about how practicing can help performance both physically and mentally.

6.  What other source supports your answer?
Tawnya Nguyen because she is always telling us to practice everyday even when we don't have practice.

7.  Tie this together with a  concluding thought.
In conclusion, using my trusty sources,my mentor Tawnya Nguyen, helped me decide that my second answer is Practice because practicing is a vital instruction and part to becoming an excellent performer.

Blog 9: Lesson 1 Reflection

1. Positive Statement
What I'm most proud of from my presentation is that i made the time with only 25 seconds to spare and i talked throughout my whole presentation without stuttering or awkward pauses. Also that i rarely looked at my notes and papers while talking making a connection with the audience.

2. Questions to Consider
a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your Lesson 1 Presentation (self-assessment)?

           I would give myself a P-

b.     Explain why you deserve that grade using evidence from the Lesson 1 component contract.
Because i did everything the contract asked me to do except i gave out 2 examples of my printed resources instead of three, i did not say 1 verbally but i did have all 3 of my sources.

3. What worked for you in your Lesson 1?
I knew everything i was saying and lesson helped me know how i should present for my later presentations for my senior topic. This was a good first step

4.  (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 1?
What i would of done is talk about my 3rd example of my printed resources.
